Chapter 01

Our Story

Ionity was founded to solve a persistent problem in industry: operational technology and digital systems that don’t talk to each other. Since 2018 — first as Antwerp Designs — the company has combined mechanical and product-design engineering, embedded hardware, cloud and edge computing, and applied AI/IoT into single, coherent systems.

Founder Johan Wilhelm van Antwerp brings a Product Design Engineer’s discipline — rigorous client collaboration and mechanical innovation — to every build. That engineering-first foundation is why Ionity ships hardware and software that hold up in real industrial and enterprise environments.

Today Ionity serves industrial, utility, and enterprise operations with energy-efficient edge-AI hardware, secure AIoT platforms, and predictive-maintenance systems.

The Evolution

2018

Antwerp Designs is Born

The foundation was laid for a new kind of technical innovation — where engineering discipline meets digital possibility.

2019

Expanding the Horizon

The first software product design launched, rapidly followed by IoT developments. Johan’s deep-rooted love for tech reignited, leading to full cloud universal remote controls for clients and even the integration of water payment systems into GIS.

2024 – 2025

Doubling Down on AI

As applied AI matured, Ionity invested a focused period of intensive R&D into on-device and edge AI — translating it into practical, deployable capability for clients.

From that period of deep focus, Ionity rose.
